FAQ

Here is our frequently asked questions!

1. What makes Stellar Vocals different from other vocal coaches?

I don’t do shortcuts, tricks, or hype. I build singers from the inside out. Technique, coordination, ear, confidence, artistry, and longevity. My students don’t just hit notes, they understand their instrument and own it.

2. Do I need natural talent to sing?

No. Talent is overrated. Coordination, consistency, and proper guidance matter far more. I’ve seen “untalented” singers outgrow naturally gifted ones simply because they trained correctly.

3. Do you work with beginners?

Yes. Many of my students start with zero experience. That’s often the best place to start because we don’t have to undo bad habits.

4. How long does it take to sound good?

That depends on your consistency and mindset. Most people start liking their voice within a few months. Real singer confidence usually takes closer to six months or more. This is a craft, not a hack.

5. Do you offer one-off or short-term coaching?

My focus is long-term development. That’s where real results come from. That said, I do offer a limited one-off intensive session for those who need focused help.

6. What styles do you teach?

Rock, metal, pop, worship, musical theater, classical crossover, and modern styles. Technique is universal. Style is how you express it.

7. Can you help me sing high without straining?

Yes. High notes are not about pushing. They’re about coordination, vowel shaping, breath efficiency, and trust. Most strain comes from misunderstanding the mechanism.

8. I hate the sound of my own voice. Can that change?

Almost everyone feels that way at first. As your coordination improves and you understand what you’re doing, that discomfort fades and confidence replaces it.

9. Do you teach scream vocals or grit?

Yes, but only once a solid technical foundation is in place. Healthy distortion comes from control, not aggression.

10. How often should I take lessons?

Weekly is ideal. Consistency beats intensity every time.

11. How long are lessons?

Lessons are typically 30 or 60 minutes, depending on your goals and schedule.

12. Do you teach kids?

Yes, with age-appropriate methods that protect the voice and build confidence.

13. Can you help with vocal damage or hoarseness?

I can help identify technical causes and rebuild healthy habits, but medical issues should always be evaluated by an ENT first.

14. Do I need to read music?

No. It helps, but it’s not required. I teach in a way that makes sense whether you read music or not.

15. Can you help with stage fright?

Absolutely. Confidence comes from preparation and understanding. When you trust your voice, fear loses its grip.

16. Do online lessons actually work?

Yes. I work with students all over the world. Online lessons are extremely effective when done correctly.

17. What equipment do I need for online lessons?

A stable internet connection, headphones, and a basic microphone are more than enough to start.

18. Will lessons help me find my own sound?

That’s the goal. I don’t turn singers into copies. I help you become the best version of your own voice.

19. How much should I practice?

Short, focused practice beats long, unfocused sessions. Even 15–20 minutes a day can move the needle.

20. Do you record lessons?

Yes. Recording lessons is part of how I teach. It helps reinforce learning and gives you clarity between sessions.

21. Can you help me prepare for auditions?

Yes. Auditions are about control, confidence, and smart song choice. We train all of that.

22. Can vocal lessons help my speaking voice?

Absolutely. Breath control, resonance, and clarity apply directly to speaking.

23. I’ve been singing for years but feel stuck. Can you help?

That’s actually one of my specialties. Plateaus usually mean something fundamental is missing or misunderstood.

24. Will I lose my style if I learn technique?

No. Technique frees your style. It doesn’t erase it.

25. Do you teach breath support?

Yes, but not the vague kind most people hear about. Real breath coordination that actually works.

26. Is singing supposed to feel physical?

Yes, but not tense or painful. Singing is athletic, not forceful.

27. Can you help me sing on pitch?

Yes. Pitch is a skill, not a gift. Ear training and coordination go hand in hand.

28. What if I’m “tone deaf”?

True tone deafness is extremely rare. Most people just haven’t been trained properly.

No. We work with music that motivates you.

41. Do you teach vibrato?

Yes, but vibrato emerges naturally when the voice is balanced. It’s not something you force.

42. Can you help me expand my range?

Yes, safely and correctly.

43. What’s your teaching philosophy?

Build fundamentals. Remove fear. Create independence. Develop artists, not parrots.

44. Will lessons make me sound “trained”?

No. They’ll make you sound confident, controlled, and expressive.

45. Do you offer trial lessons?

I don’t do gimmicky trials. Real work requires commitment.

46. Can lessons help me worship or lead in church?

Yes. Many of my students sing in worship settings.

That’s usually the exact reason you should.

Better control, better tone, more confidence, and a deeper understanding of your voice if you show up and do the work.

50. Why should I choose you as my coach?

Because I care about doing this right. I don’t sell fantasy. I build singers who last.
